8th Canadian Masonry Symposium

Words: Margaret FosterOrganized by the University of Alberta and the Canadian Masonry Research Institute (CMRI), the 8th Canadian Masonry Symposium was held in Jasper Park Lodge, Jasper, Alberta, one of Canada's most beautiful spots, May 31 through June 3, 1998.

106 delegates were in attendance from Canada, the United States, Britain, Australia, Portugal, the Netherlands, the Emirates, and the Ukraine. The conference showcased 14 technical sessions and three plenary sessions. Among other topics, the delegates discussed flexural behavior, in-plane behavior, restoration, materials, numerical analysis, long-term movements, and historic masonry structures.
