Laborers International Agreement Available to MCAA Members

Words: Michael SchmerbeckMCAA members who are signatory to a union agreement have access to the MCAA International Agreement with the Laborers International Union of North America. The International Agreement specifically covers and benefits mason contractors who assign the work of operating a rough terrain fork lift to laborers and not operating engineers and who work in multiple jurisdictions. Contractors can rely on language in their home jurisdiction when traveling to various other jurisdictions.

"It is especially good when a mason contractor who assigns work to laborers in his own area travels to another jurisdiction where work is assigned to the operating engineers," said MCAA Executive Director, Michael Adelizzi. "The contractor can then assign the work to his laborers saving him the expense of hiring an operating engineer."

If you are interested in reading the International Agreement, you can view it here, or call the MCAA office at 800-536-2225.
