MIC Endorses MCAA's High School Recruitment Program

Words: Melissa AguiarAt the annual meeting of the Masonry Industry Council (MIC) in Washington D.C. in March, the executive board granted its endorsement of MCAA's national High School Recruitment Program. Members of the board, representing BIA, NCMA, IMI, PCA and MCAA, unanimously agreed that the program is integral to the future of the masonry industry, and it can make an important contribution towards significantly increasing the number of students entering the masonry trade. The MIC has also stated that it "encourages the members of all participating associations to contribute to the MCAA High School Recruitment Campaign through sponsoring our nation's high schools."

With this endorsement, MCAA will be contacting every member of BIA, NCMA, IMI, PCA and MCAA in the states in which sponsorship is most needed, to ask them to contribute sponsorship funds to the program. There are over 30 states with a significant number of schools still awaiting the program.

If we do not fulfill our promise to these schools before the end of this school year, we not only miss the opportunity to engage students but we also alienate the school administrators count on our industry for information and programming. The small investment of sponsorship can ensure a secure and prosperous future, a goal of all our associations.
