The MCAA approved the establishment of a fund targeted to educating the design community on the benefits of building with total masonry construction.

America loves masonry and given the choice of building materials, most Americans would choose masonry for their construction needs. And why not! Masonry with its many benefits of durability, strength, warmth and beauty offers owners and designers endless possibilities.

So if masonry has so many benefits, then how can you explain the inroads of competitive products such as tilt-up, precast and even EIFS?

The Board of Directors of the Mason Contractors Association of America recognizing the need for contractors to step up nationally and become engaged in marketing the expanded use of masonry through promoting masonry systems and total masonry construction, a role that is best suited to the contractor community. During a recent Midyear Meeting, the MCAA approved the establishment of a fund targeted to educating the design community on the benefits of building with total masonry construction. The MCAA will ask its membership to assist in the establishing the new annual fund and then seek supplier support of a new wide range national promotional program that will be developed by the MCAA Marketing Committee.

Contractors can play a unique role in promotion by having ongoing contact with construction customers without being bound to one building material. If a customer wants a brick building, we can deliver a brick building. If they want a block or stone project we can deliver a block or stone project. The contractor community has an unbiased view point that is better served to meet construction customer needs.

The MCAA will develop and provide the educational and marketing tools to the industry’s contractors enabling them to be better positioned to sell masonry systems and total masonry construction. A well educated, well armed and well motivated mason contractor community will be a very difficult force for the tilt-up and precast industry to stop.

Those interested in participating with this effort should direct comments and questions to the MCAA National Office at 800-536-2225.
