Sakrete, NFL to 'Sack' Homelessness

Sakrete funds Sack Program for third year

By

Sakrete, North America's original bagged cement mix brand, will partner with several National Football League (NFL) teams to raise money for the homeless through its Sakrete Sack Program for the third consecutive year.

The Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons will participate in the 2008 program. At the end of the regular season, the player with the most sacks from each participating team will have $5,000 donated in his name to HomeAid, a leading national non-profit provider of housing for the homeless. The overall league sack leader will have $10,000 donated in his name.

Last year, the Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons raised $40,000 for HomeAid. The Panthers, Giants and 49ers participated in inaugural Sakrete Sack Program, which raised $12,500.

"We are excited about this years' program and continuing our relationship with the NFL teams to help tackle homelessness," Johnsie Beck, president of Sakrete of North America, said. "Sakrete and NFL teams share the same values of professionalism and giving back to the community. This charitable program allows us to make a positive impact locally because the money goes directly into these teams' communities."
