The Arizona Masonry Contractors Association held its annual Masonry Skills Challenge on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT), a public school located in Mesa which serves students from ten east valley school districts and where the AMCA apprenticeship classes and labs are held. 20 competitors participated in this competition.

Several industry people, along with the competitors’ families, were there to support first, second and third year apprentices and high school construction education students as they showcased their training.

This MCAA Region G competition gave apprentices three hours to complete a project designed for their skill level. The projects were judged on several criteria, including plumb, level, correct design and production.
