29th Annual MC&MCA Excellence in Masonry Entries Available

Words: Ruby Daamen2011 marks the 29th Annual MC&MCA Excellence in Masonry & Concrete Design and Construction Awards Contest!

The MC&MCA sponsors this contest in order to recognize quality architectural design and workmanship in the area of concrete and masonry and promote better public awareness of the advantages of our industry’s products and services. The contest is open to MC&MCA Contractor Members only! Note that there is no charge to enter! Associate members are encouraged to work with your contractor friends to get your best projects entered. Contest entries will be accepted when accompanied by an application for membership in the case of non‑member participation.

Award winners, as well as all entries, are honored at the MC&MCA Annual Awards Presentation being held Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Double Tree Park Place Hotel in St. Louis Park. Winners receive four framed picture awards of their winning project along with the recognition of the design, architectural and construction community. The MC&MCA also produces a color brochure of the winners included in the AIA membership directory publication, providing excellent marketing exposure for the industry and the winning companies. In addition, photos of the winning entries are featured on our website!

The Excellence in Masonry Contest will feature residential and commercial applications of brick, block and stone masonry.

The Excellence in Concrete Contest will feature residential, commercial and highway/heavy application of poured‑in‑place concrete.

You are encouraged to enter in as many categories as you would like, two projects per category are allowed. Any projects completed within the last five years, or if previously entered are eligible.

Submittals are accepted online only. Go to the Excellence page at www.mcmca.com to enter! The deadline for applications is August 31. Guidelines, project worksheets and the review forms to be used by the judges are also available online. All information on the worksheet will be required for online submittal.
