Indiana Limestone (and stone in general) is a natural material that has been used successfully in many types of buildings for over 175 years. But like all products, it can be misused if proper attention isn't paid during design and construction. This webinar will allow attendees to gain a better understanding of the process of getting natural stone from the quarry to the project, see examples of problems on jobs caused by poor specifications, detailing and construction practices and learn how to avoid these and other mistakes in their projects, and learn points of reference and how they can be helpful in all phases of their projects no matter what the specified product.

Water Resistant Masonry

The Water Resistant Masonry course will cover the different conditions that can lead to leaks and what we can do to keep water out of our walls. Attendees will learn about different water tests that are used to track down the cause of leaks, and how to use the results of tests to plan repairs. Seismic Requirements of the Building Code

Alaska and the West Coast of the United States are notorious for moderate to major earthquakes, but we are also aware of significant earthquakes in Missouri, Texas, Maine and Illinois. This presentation will show where the hot spots are and provide some insight on why the codes are requiring seismic consideration in design and construction. It will also show some basic methods on how to simplify construction when obstacles, such as reinforcement, are required in masonry walls. Most important, the presentation will provide some insight on what inspectors should be looking for when observing masonry construction.
