BASF, a leading provider of systems, formulations and raw materials to the construction industry, was a platinum sponsor of Building Safety Month 2012. Presented by the International Code Council, Building Safety Month is a public awareness campaign offered in May to help individuals, families and businesses understand how to create and maintain disaster-resistant and sustainable structures.

From spray-foam roofing systems that resist hurricane-force winds to porous pavement that filters stormwater, BASF creates more than 600 products that contribute to sustainable, energy-efficient and disaster-resistant construction.

“BASF's goal is to stimulate adoption of sustainable, beyond-code construction that is affordable, measurable and provides lasting value,” said Rick Davenport, Director of Sustainable Construction in North America for BASF. “Builders are already seeing evidence that sustainability is central to the future of the industry - from increasingly stringent building codes to homeowner expectations for energy efficiency - and BASF is committed to helping them respond to those trends affordably.”

About Building Safety Month

For 32 years, 50,000 worldwide members of the International Code Council have commemorated advances in building safety. As a result, interest in Building Safety Month grows each year. Official support from governors, county executives, mayors and even the President of the United States underscores the importance of building safety as critical public value.
