To ensure the growth and success of our industry, the MCAA works for you in these ways:
The MCAA has a full-time staff in Washington D.C. representing the interests of MCAA members. The Association works closely with key members of Congress, federal departments and with the Administration to advocate your interests. In addition to our strong government affairs effort, the Association supports candidates for federal office through MACPAC, our political action committee. By contributing to campaigns, the Association has been successful in electing candidates who are mindful of our industry's concerns.
The MCAA works to promote the use of masonry products to our industry customers. Our website is advertised to your customers, and visited millions of times per year. In addition, we actively exhibit at customer trade shows, advertise in trade association publications, promote our technical publications and technical seminars, and market our website and our monthly Masonry magazine. We have also spearheaded the industry-wide promotion campaign MasonrySystems.org, an online source for architects and specifiers designing with masonry.
Each year, our MCAA Convention at World of Masonry features our annual meeting as well as strong educational programming. We offer numerous networking opportunities where you can learn first hand from the industry's leading mason contractors. At the annual Convention and throughout the year, the Association conducts various classes targeted toward your operations. Programs include: Foreman Development, Basic Masonry Estimating, Masonry Quality Institute, and other topics such as Masonry Wall Bracing.
MCAA has developed a National Masonry Certification program and will begin the work of educating and certifying our industry's members. Certification will be awarded by demonstrating your commitment to quality, reliability, and high professional standards. Once certified, you will join other members with a proven level of education, knowledge and experience in the masonry industry. As architects, specifiers and customers begin to require a certified contractor, your firm will stand out.
The Mason Contractors Association of America has worked hard, and has been very successful in fighting for friendlier building codes and standards for the mason contractor and designer. We are an active leader in code arenas such as the ASTM, MSJC, ASCE and the IBC. No other national association strictly represents the interests of mason contractors in these groups. In addition to providing leadership in code arenas, our staff can provide general assistance to you throughout the year.
The official monthly publication of MCAA is Masonry magazine. This periodical covers every aspect of the mason contractor profession - not only equipment and techniques but topics such as Building Codes and Standards, Training the Future Masonry Labor Force, Business Planning, Promoting your Business, Job Interviewing, Negotiation, Legal Issues and more. Also, our website MasonContractors.org provides you with a 24/7 resource for information.
MCAA is active in providing information on careers in masonry to students and parents. We provide free information to high schools on careers available in the masonry industry and an online database of training programs. The MCAA supports local training programs by assisting to expand their efforts and providing superior masonry training manuals. Also, we support the establishment of both pre-apprentice and apprenticeship programs. Our two skills events, Fastest Trowel and Masonry Skills Challenge, are recognized for their promotion of quality masonry skills training.
OSHA and MCAA work together to provide MCAA's members with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees' health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to wall bracing, fall protection, scaffolding, and forklift safety hazards. Members have online access to OSHA, safety library, business resources, and more. Plus, members have access to technical support and assistance provided by MCAA-a valuable resource that can save members time and money.
MCAA has over 1,000 member companies who are involved in the masonry industry. Access to these members in-person and online can be a valuable resource for your company's growth. We list member's profiles in our online directory, where contact information, website link, and specialty/product offerings can be identified by customers visiting the site millions of times per year. It's easier for customers to locate and hire you with the click of a mouse.
MCAA Associate Members are industry suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors. These companies appreciate the influence and progress that the Mason Contractors Association of America represents and initiates, and they want to be a significant voice in the direction our industry will be taking into the future. Of course, these companies also see the value in networking and participating in an association whose contractors account for $4 billion in annual masonry sales.
Associate Members are divided into two categories: companies who distribute their products nationally (National Associates) and those who distribute in a local or region territory exclusively (Chapter Associates). The benefits for both categories are the same, but National Associates obviously reach a wider audience of customers with access to their products. Benefits include:
- Access to the MCAA's directory of members
- Comprehensive profile in our "Buyers Guide" online directory, where contact information, website link and product offerings can be identified by customers visiting the site millions of times per year
- Direct assistance from MCAA's Washington office to help resolve issues when confronted with federal agencies
- A subscription to Masonry magazine
- A subscription to MCAA's e-mail newsletter
- Members-only access online to OSHA, safety, business resources and more
- Discounts on all Association publications, training materials, and registration to all MCAA events, including our the MCAA Convention and annual meeting
The most important benefit, however, is a partnership with the country's largest mason contractors. Our contractor members value the support of our Associate Members. Through Associate Membership, suppliers work hand-in-hand with contractors in shaping the future of the industry. You will be on the cutting edge of industry news, affect the design of our strategies and promotions, and be the first supplier that our members turn to when purchasing.
