It offers attendees an in-depth working knowledge of serious hazards in excavation work dealing with issues from awareness, to avoidance and abatement techniques. Basic soil mechanics and suggestive trench rescue methods will be examined as well. The session incorporates relevant Federal OSHA standards and "school of hard knocks" experiences in the concrete construction industry.

- Discuss shear strength, unconfined compressive strength, cohesion, stable rock and internal soil friction
