Career Information for Educators

Give your students the tools to check out a career in masonry absolutely free, and build a solid future! You're the expert on the employment landscape your students face when they leave school. As you know, today's employment prospects aren't promising, especially for students who don't pursue a college degree. Without learned skills and the knowledge of their options, these students struggle to build the right careers.

Many traditional career options for young people have been overlooked during the past decade, amid the boom of the technology industry. Now that our economy is "back to basics," it's time to remind your students of the advantages of work in the long-established vocational trades. Trades are a great career choice for many devoted and talented students.

Specifically, within the construction trades, the Masonry industry offers great benefits including advancement opportunities, job security, paid training, and financial strength - and that's just the beginning.

Masonry work presents both an analytical and creative outlet, a sense of pride in accomplishment, and job flexibility. Most importantly, masonry is an enduring craft that promises to be lucrative far into the future - and the opportunities are wide open!

To help young people take full advantage of the benefits of our careers, the Mason Contractors Association of America has developed a career information kit, "Check Out a Career in Masonry," available free of cost. This kit includes a short video to introduce your students to a masonry career, take-home brochures that address students' questions, brochures for their parents, and much more.

Contact the Director of Workforce Development to quickly request your career kit package. This career kit can become a part of your guidance office's career library, it can be used to demonstrate a great career option to vocationally driven students, or it can promote a career day program. You can request a career kit online or over the phone at 800-536-2225.

The Mason Contractors Association of America also offers a "Masonry Career Day" at high schools by request. We will schedule a local industry associate to visit your school and conduct an interactive presentation about careers in masonry. In this presentation, students will learn first hand about masonry work and how to start in a career. Students may also receive free promotional materials and hands on experience. This presentation can be part of your school's career fair, or conducted in front of a classroom or school-wide assembly. You can request a career day online or by calling 800-536-2225.
