Understanding Masonry Codes & Standards

This intensive seminar will guide you step-by-step through the recently updated masonry specification provisions included in the consensus masonry standards.
Specification for Masonry Structures (ACI 530.1-05/ASCE 6-05/TMS 602-05) and pertinent details in the Masonry Code and the IBC 2006. At the same time, it will cover basic masonry design and construction examples that contractors need to know, using both the Code and the Specification. This seminar is intended for contractors who will be applying for Certification and who use the Specification to erect masonry structures.
Many changes have been made to the 2005 Masonry Specification along with some important changes in the 2006 IBC. This seminar will familiarize you with these new provisions, and how they may affect your masonry construction projects.
The seminar instructor, Rashod R. Johnson, P.E. serves on the Masonry Standards Joint Committee that made changes to these standards and has been active in the IBC Code process for almost 7 years. He will explain the major changes, why they were made, and what the changes may mean to you as a contractor. You will work through real life examples that are encountered daily.
By the end of this seminar, you will have a real feel for the Code, so that you can put the new Masonry Code into practice.
