The Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) will present Introduction to Movement Joints for Masons on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at 10:00 AM CST.

Donald Harvey P.E. of Atkinson-Noland & Associates will discuss the basic principles of masonry movement joints, including the differences between control joints and expansion joints. We will also discuss basic rules of thumb for joint spacing and layout. Some practical tips for ensuring that joints function as intended will also be provided. Even if joint layout is not your responsibility, it can certainly still become your problem. Join us to learn about how to protect yourself from movement joint-related call backs.

Atkinson-Noland & Associates is an engineering firm in Boulder, Colorado that specializes in masonry and nondestructive testing.
