Holcim further focuses its senior management
Moves strengthen the development of a new generation of leaders
Holcim announced a series of changes in its most senior management that will further streamline and focus the leadership of the Group. At the same time, these moves strengthen the development of a new generation of leaders with broad commercial and technical experience as well as a sound track record in Occupational Health & Safety.
Member of the Holcim Executive Committee Bernard Terver will assume responsibility for Africa Middle East as well as the Indian subcontinent, i.e. India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. By combining these three countries into a regional cluster, the Group expects even better traction in this important region. With his many years of experience in the cement business and his strong track record in financial performance and also Occupational Health & Safety, Bernard Terver is ideally equipped to tackle the challenges we have in this region. Onne van der Weijde will remain Area Manager for India and will be instrumental in the foreseen restructuring of the two Indian operations ACC and Ambuja Cements. Javier de Benito will remain Area Manager for Africa Middle East, reporting directly to Bernard Terver.
Member of the Holcim Executive Committee Ian Thackwray will become responsible for East Asia, South East Asia, Oceania and Holcim Trading. With this move, important regional synergies in terms of increased collaboration can be reaped over time. Daniel Bach, currently CEO of Holcim Romania, will be appointed Area Manager for South East Asia and member of senior management of Holcim Ltd.
Alain Bourguignon, currently CEO of Aggregate Industries UK, is appointed Area Manager for North America / UK and member of senior management of Holcim Ltd. He will be reporting directly to the CEO of Holcim Ltd.
The corporate functions Investor Relations as well as Risk Management will newly report to CFO Thomas Aebischer.
All changes become effective 1 January 2014.
Member of the Holcim Executive Committee Paul Hugentobler, currently responsible for South Asia & ASEAN (excluding the Philippines), will be retiring upon reaching the statutory age limit in February 2014. He will act as an advisor to the CEO of Holcim Ltd starting January 1st, 2014. Until then, Paul Hugentobler, who has been instrumental in building up the Group’s position in Asia, will support a smooth transition phase into the new set up. The Board of Directors and the Holcim Executive Committee thank Paul Hugentobler for his many contributions to the success of the Group.
