Develop skills to quickly finesse the human face from a rough block of stone

Masons and dry stone wallers will once again have the opportunity in October to work side by side with sculptor DJ Garrity. The sculptor is an award-winning artist, author and former Sculptor-In-Residence of The Mount Rushmore National Memorial who currently divides his time between France and the West of Ireland.
Based on his book, “The Rhythms Of Stone” the artist has lead masons and dry stone wallers on both continents, as they use simple hand tools to acquire the skills necessary to create powerful images of the human face as a unique addition and personal stamp upon their stone projects.
Chicago Botanic Garden will be offering a 20% discount on the 2014 workshop fee for all members of the Mason Contractors Association of America.

About the Author
DJ Garrity is known as a sculptor, painter and journeyman along the margins of abstract expression. The artist has subscribed to a series of independent studies, which include sojourns in Europe, Nantucket, Taos, New York City and consecutive tours of duty as the Sculptor-In-Residence of Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota. He has been and will remain a consummate student of the physical, cultural and emotional landscapes in which he resides.
