Fair Labor Standards Act II webinar

Common issues that arise in FLSA claims

By

The Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) will present FLSA II on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at 10:00 AM CDT.

The first step in addressing the onslaught of wage and hour claims is to understand the federal law behind those claims. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) has seen increasing attention from plaintiffs’ attorneys and from the federal government in recent years. We will explain, in a two-part discussion, some of the more common issues that arise in FLSA claims. Our second program will include discussion of:

  • Wage and hour exemptions
  • The Salary basis under the FLSA—what it means
  • Make sure you have a policy to correct improper deductions from salaried employees
  • The Executive exemption
  • The Administrative exemption
  • The Professional Employee exemption
  • The Outside Sales exemption
  • Highly-Paid employee exemption
  • Joint liability under the FLSA
  • The use of subcontractors to avoid FLSA requirements and the DOL’s response
  • Recordkeeping requirements
  • Personal liability under the FLSA
