Free 3D Masonry Modeling Using SketchUp for the Mason Contractor webinar
Create and modify masonry details
The Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) will present 3D Masonry Modeling Using SketchUp for the Mason Contractor on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at 10:00 AM CST.
As mason contractors make the transition to working in a BIM (Building Information Modeling) environment, it becomes necessary to understand the fundamentals of 3D modeling. SketchUp (www.SketchUp.com) is a free program that provides basic modeling functionality with an easy-to-learn interface, making it perfect for learning how to generate quick sketches and simple 3D models that can be used to graphically communicate ideas. This webinar provides an introduction to SketchUp and its applications to the masonry industry.
Learning objectives:
- Participants will be able to search, access, and download masonry details from the International Masonry Institute's (IMI's) web site (2D details) and the SketchUp 3D warehouse web site (3D models).
- Participants will be able to modify those details to suit conditions on their own jobs, for example, to generate change requests and RFIs.
- Participants will learn basic SketchUp skills for quickly and efficiently communicating visual ideas and concepts.
