This session will describe in detail the causes of masonry deterioration and failure. Participants will learn to recognize the differences between trauma, neglect, and normal deterioration. Job site photos and samples will be used to generate in-depth discussions. After completing this session, attendees will be able to look at a masonry structure, have a basic understanding of the problem, how it occurred, and determine the best course of action for fixing the problem. Attendees will also learn how to prevent masonry problems from occurring in the future through an understanding of appropriate preventive measures.
