A construction schedule is critical to a project’s success in terms of time, money, quality and safety. In this interactive session, attendees will be able to develop a Critical Path Method (CPM) construction schedule and understand how to create an activities list and generating a network diagram. Analysis phase begins upon schedule completion, including: comprehending the intermingling of trades, determining who owns float, resource allocation, potential litigation, and how the schedule can affect both quality and safety. Correlation between the CPM and the Gantt chart will also be examined, demonstrating how to turn a CPM flowchart into actual calendar/workdays. Communication and documentation of construction schedules from both the general contractor and the subcontractor point of view will also be reviewed. A brief introduction to Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its effect on scheduling will be explored.

1. Outline a Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule from start to finish and define CPM uses beyond scheduling

2. Analyze a CPM and how it correlates to a Gantt Chart

3. Integrate effective communication between the general contractor and the subcontractor
