This hands-on training session is designed for experienced operators who already have a good working knowledge and significant practice using total stations in the field. We will go beyond what is commonly learned on the job and delve into specifications, accuracies and calibrations which are rarely understood by the typical construction surveyor. Specific detail will be presented on methods which may be utilized to improve accuracy of point location beyond the standard procedures typically used on construction sites. Hands-on use of total stations will demonstrate easily performed field checks and adjustments of instrument calibration in setting up accurately on a point and measurement of distances and angles. A special discussion regarding expected accuracies with various degrees of factory stated specifications typically found will be presented.
